Mountain View Animal Hospital

Mountain View Animal Hospital is a place of hope and healing. Whether you have a sick pet in need of gentle medical care, or you have a well pet you simply want to keep in the best health: We Can Help You.

Mountain View Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary medical facility, located near the Cole/Ustick intersection in Boise, ID. For more than 35 years Mountain View has served the animals (and their owners!) of Boise. To ensure consistent quality of care, we restrict our care to dogs and cats.

Mountain View is proudly certified by the American Animal Hospital Association, an honor that fewer than 15% of hospitals ever achieve. To reach this elite level of certification, we are regularly inspected in areas as diverse as customer service, sterility, advanced imaging, and laboratory services. AAHA stipulates more than 1000 exacting standards of care, for their members to meet.

  • Dr. Maloney

    Craig Maloney, DVM, Practice Owner

Dr. Maloney pursued his undergraduate training in molecular biology at the University of Chicago, received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Colorado State University in 1996, and pursued an MBA from California Lutheran University after completing vet school. Prior to moving to Idaho he worked in various critical care practices in southern California and later served as the medical director of the multi-hospital Central Valley Veterinary Group in Salt Lake City. In 1999 Dr. Maloney moved with his family to Boise and purchased Mountain View Animal Hospital, which he continues to own and operate. In 2008 Dr. Maloney purchased Orchard Animal Hospital, and currently serves as medical director of the two facilities.

In 2006 Dr. Maloney was certified as a specialist by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Canine and Feline Practice. Currently he is one of only 2 veterinarians in Idaho to have met this certification. He has practice interests in pain management and oncology, and is an active member of the Veterinary Cancer Society and the International Veterinary Association for Pain Management. Recently the IVAPM announced that it will begin to allow veterinarians to become certified in pain management, and Dr. Maloney is now pursuing this training and specialty certification.

Both Mountain View Animal Hospital and Orchard Animal Hospital are certified by the American Animal Hospital Association, a stringent voluntary certification that has only been achieved by seven hospitals in Idaho. To reach AAHA accreditation a hospital must meet strict guidelines for equipment, training, staffing, medical protocols, record keeping, and in addition must undergo a regular physical inspection.

In his free time he enjoys scuba diving, gardening, hiking, riding his horse, beekeeping, and spending time with his wife and his five children. He shares his life with two dogs, four cats, approximately 80,000 bees, and a horse.

  • Susan Keller, VMD

Dr. Susan Keller was born and raised in northeastern Pennsylvania.  After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and psychology from Allegheny College, she moved to the great city of Philadelphia to pursue her veterinary degree.  While attending the University of Pennsylvania, she took an interest in small animal medicine and critical care.  After graduation in 1996, Dr. Keller moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to complete a year-long post-graduate internship in emergency, trauma, and critical care.  Dr. Keller found that her critical care training transferred nicely to treating patients in a general practice setting.
After eight years of emergency and general practice in Wisconsin, she and her husband, Patrick, moved to Sandpoint, Idaho to pursue veterinary medicine at their outdoor lifestyle in a great mountain town.  While in Sandpoint, the Keller family expanded to include a son Jack (2008) and a daughter Hazel (2010).  The time spent in Sandpoint was enjoyable, both professionally and personally.  Areas of clinical interest include critical care, chronic pain management, allergic skin disease, surgery, and all aspects of internal medicine.
Late in 2011, a career opportunity for Patrick brought the Keller Family to Boise.  Dr. Keller joined the Mountain View Animal Hospital Family in January 2012.  She has enjoyed meeting new people and looks forward to building long relationships with her clients, patients, and co-workers.
In her spare time, Dr. Keller enjoys running (even participated in 2013’s Race to Robie Creek), cycling, skate skiing, snowboarding, and spending lots of time with her young family.

In August 2005, Stefanie was hired by Mountain View Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Receptionist.  She quickly realized THIS is where she was supposed to be.  Stefanie enjoyed building relationships with her co-workers, the clients, and especially the patients.  In 2006, Stefanie was promoted to Lead Veterinary Receptionist.  Stefanie loved taking on new responsibilities, including hiring other receptionists, team meetings, and team and client education.  In October 2011, Stefanie moved into the position of Hospital Manager.  Stefanie loves being able to offer support and opportunity to her amazing co-workers, while still having the chance to interact with the many wonderful clients and patients of Mountain View Animal Hospital.

Stefanie enjoys spending time with her husband, Nik.  Together they enjoy gardening, cooking, listening to music, camping and outdoors, visiting with family and friends, and traveling (especially to New Orleans).  They have two 4-legged children, Roscoe (bloodhound) and Josie (Italian greyhound).  Stefanie also enjoys scrapbooking, sewing, and other crafts.
